Run10k FinishSummer is finally here, a perfect time to go for a run or jog in the sun. Whether you are new to running to get fit or just enjoying exercising outdoors in this fantastic weather, having a goal to aim for is always great motivation to keep training.

What could be a better goal than to run a 10k this autumn for charity?

Entries for the Cancer Research UK’s Run10k series is now open for races in September and October.  The great thing about this run is that unlike the Race for Life events, which take place throughout the summer, the Run10k challenge is open to both men and women. So you can train and run for fun alongside friends and family members, or get competitive with your work colleagues. Along with improving your own health and fitness through the summers training you will also helping to raise money for Cancer Research UK, whose work has saved millions of lives in the UK and across the world.

10k is an achievable distance for anyone wanting to take part with a little bit of training through the summer. There are many training schedules online for running a 10k. Runners World has a great selection of schedules depending on your fitness levels at the moment, how long till the race, what time you are aiming for, or how much time you can commit to training.

This year there are 43 Run10k events throughout England, Scotland and Wales including some new urban locations and exciting road races. For regular runners it’s the opportunity to maybe race at a new location whilst being a perfect chance to get a new personal best.  Runners of all abilities aged over 16 are invited to enter. So whether you want to test your fitness, celebrate or remember a loved one Cancer Research UK hopes that you will join 60,000 men and women to come together and raise over £6million for their essential work.

Since 2003 Run10k has seen over 140,000 men and women across the UK have taken part raising over £14 million to fund Cancer Research UK’s life saving work to beat cancer.
